Thomas J. Kapels, AIA, ASLA, NCARB, LEED Green Associate (President)
Thomas J. Kapels is a registered
architect and landscape architect with over a decade of experience on federal
and government protects with worked performed on every military installation
within Colorado. As a former army
officer in the engineer branch and a veteran of the Iraq War, he has formal
training in leading teams with a proven track record of performance and
success. Tom’s background as both an
architect and landscape architect provides first-hand knowledge for the
management of an entire project team in both site and building design
disciplines. His professional experience
has resulting in over $150 million worth in projects for government clients,
and he has served as subject-matter expert for design reviews with the
Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and the State Department. Tom’s role as a design team project manager
is to ensure responsiveness to the client, full implementation of the client’s
goals, and overall management of the project’s schedule, budget, and quality.
In 2012, Mr. Kapels founded
Thomas Kapels Architecture, LLC (dba TK-Architecture, LLC) as a CVE-verified Service
Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).
Kathleen Madsen, IIDA, NCIDQ, LEED-AP (Vice President)
Kathleen Madsen is an experienced
interior designer with over a decade of design experience in commercial,
medical, and assisted living facilities.
Her experience includes work on small and large-scale projects for both
private and public clients; however, her primary focus remains on interior
design work within medical facilities. Her
passion is in designing adaptive and accommodating spaces that contribute to an
individual’s health and well-being. Kathleen
is adept at working with multi-disciplinary teams in creating an interior
environment that is functional, affordable, and aesthetically superb. With several years of design experience,
Kathleen’s services continue from design and through project completion to
ensure client satisfaction.
Kathleen comes from a
military family with an Air Force heritage.
She lived in Europe for much of her childhood while her parents were
stationed there. Her experience overseas
with the military has given her a deep appreciation for other cultures, while
having a family member who was a disabled veteran has given her an intimate
understanding of the design issues challenging today’s veteran population.
